how about simply exchanging pieces for exhibitions? I think it could be interesting, for instance, if an artist would integrate a piece of another artist in his own show and not mark it as the work of someone else. referring to names functioning as brands on the art market, a different name under an image would probably also change the image's meaning and put it into another context.
just like quotes get different meanings if you change the author:
"Ask not what your country can do for you,
rather ask what you can do for your country"

seriously, this could be an subtile and easy way to mix up ideas and perspectives, and give your artworks the chance to travel the world!
